On May 25, 2010, Argentina will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the revolution that opened the way to Independence. Throughout the year there will be preparatory activities for the big party next year.

“What is understood as May Revolution? (Launched in 1810 – so begins the Bicentennial in 1810 and not 1816 is the date when declaring independence).

It is known as May Revolution to the series of revolutionary events that happened in May 1810 in Buenos Aires, the then capital of the Virreinato del Río de la Plata, a colonial dependency of Spain. Following the revolution deposed the viceroy Baltasar Hidalgo de Cisneros and replaced by the Primera Junta.

It is known as “Independence Day” at the July 9 when making the declaration of independence of Argentina. It took place during the Congress of Tucumán on July 9, 1816.

My friends, my fellow citizens and I always instilled in us that this date is the date most important country. We live like and what they feel.

The “Grito de Mayo“, as known to the whole movement started way to the Declaration of Independence of Argentina is a “cry” of Freedom, to recognize the wordless, the roots of our land and to achieve better future progress, breaking the chains, as our national anthem.

Surely the way started this unfinished, it is my opinion, but I hope this May 25 we know give us the impetus to realize the dreams of our forefathers: Argentina A free, sovereign, progressive and humane.
