Pelosi: ‘Budget a Blueprint for Economic Recovery and a Broadly Shared Prosperity for Years to Come’
WASHINGTON, April 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the naming of House conferees on the Budget Resolution for fiscal year 2010. The House conferees are all members of the House Budget Committee: Chairman John Spratt of South Carolina, Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, Allen Boyd of Florida, Budget Committee Ranking Member Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, and Jeb Hensarling of Texas.
“Today’s action moves us another step closer to passing a budget that is a blueprint for economic recovery and a broadly shared prosperity for years to come.
“By cutting taxes for the middle class, investing in affordable health care, clean American energy, and education for our children and college students, and doing so in a fiscally responsible manner, we will lift our economy out of recession and begin creating good jobs again for our workers.
“Our budget framework also lays the groundwork for historic health care reform and clean energy legislation. We will make health care more affordable and accessible, improve quality, and focus on prevention and wellness. By sparking a clean energy revolution, we will create good-paying jobs for American workers and protect our planet from climate change.
“I look forward to the conferees quickly completing their work so that the House and Senate can pass a budget framework that continues our economic recovery, creates new jobs, and lays the foundation for prosperity for all of America’s workers.”
