The Pope today received in private audience of the original community representative Qom, Felix Diaz. The are the Toba Qom, people “aboriginal” in northern Argentina, Paraguay and southern Brazil. I prefer to call native.

The visit to the Vatican of Felix is because in the Chacho, the Qom, are being subjected to evictions from their land by the Provincial Government, in addition to repression by the police. Repression that claimed a life and Qom.

Felix Diaz, came to Buenos Aires and to the corresponding authorities requested an audience with President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. Not successful.
Resorted to television and newspapers. Nor did the audience.

He manifests that only want to explain what the situation of Qom to the President. And let you know that your claim will be peaceful.
The photo is due to this situation.

But looking a little deeper, the picture has a great value. It is the first time a Pope in Vatican receives a head of a native community whose beliefs, customs and ideas are not so similar to the Catholic Church.

It should be a time to reflect and that the Church apologize for being complicit in the acts against natives in the fifteenth century.

It will be for another time? Maybe?

Now Qom has other urgent and that the President of Argentina can be resolved.

I forgot. The Qom do not have identity documents. That’s another claim. Not are citizens of Argentina, or the world.
